Are You Supporting Your Body’s Natural Ability to Heal?

Most of us rarely think about how much healing our bodies accomplish every day. A paper cut closes. A bruise disappears. A broken bone gradually knits itself back together. Our immune systems are constantly working behind the scenes, identifying and responding to threats long before we're even aware of them.
Healing isn't something the body occasionally does. It's part of what the body was designed to do. But that raises an interesting question: What are we doing to support those natural healing systems?
The Mind Is Part of the Equation
Good nutrition matters. So do exercise, sleep, appropriate medical care, healthy relationships, and the many other choices that contribute to our physical well-being. But our thoughts and emotions are also part of the picture.
Our beliefs, expectations, emotional patterns, and responses to stress can influence our physiology. The mind and body are in constant communication, which means supporting our health can involve more than simply taking care of the physical body.
This is something I've become increasingly fascinated by over the years, partly because of my own experience with rheumatoid arthritis.
My journey included conventional medical care, InnerTalk, emotional work, changes in my beliefs, and eventually a nutritional supplement. My rheumatoid arthritis disappeared more than twenty years ago and has never returned.
Which of those things made the difference? The truthful answer is that I don't know. Perhaps one did. Perhaps several worked together.
What the experience taught me was to stop looking at healing as something that necessarily depends upon one magic answer.
Supporting Health From More Than One Direction

That philosophy is at the heart of the InnerTalk Health and Wellness library. Rather than focusing on one narrow aspect of wellness, the library brings together programs designed to support the mental and emotional foundations that can contribute to a healthier life.
Health and Wellness addresses areas such as optimism, resilience, forgiveness, emotional balance, healthier responses to stress, and beliefs that support wellness. The goal isn't to replace appropriate healthcare or suggest that thoughts alone cure disease. It is to help strengthen another part of the health equation that can sometimes be overlooked.
Your body is already working extraordinarily hard on your behalf. Supporting your thoughts, beliefs, and emotional well-being may be one more way of becoming a better partner in that process.
